AYURVEDA
Ayurveda, the ancient medical science of India, is accepted as the
oldest scientific medical system; with a long record of clinical
experience .It is presently in daily use by millions of people world
over. The word "Ayurveda" is a tatpurusha compound of the word āyus
meaning "life" or "life principle", and the word veda, which refers
to a system of "knowledge". Thus "Ayurveda" roughly translates as
the "knowledge of life". It is not merely a doctrine of medical
treatment, but a way of healthy long life. Ayurveda teaches us how
to maintain and protect health, how to cure diseases and how to
promote longevity. Ayurveda treats man as a whole - which is a

three doshas–(Tridosha). Vata, Pitta and Kapha, which govern the

Technology & Process
This Vedic knowledge of treatment is recently been researched and
proved effective not only to cure/prevent diseases but also to
improve the human resistance power. The process of making Ayurvastr
clothes in bulk quantities by infusing the medicinal essences and
organic dye is known to a very few technicians who were the court
physicians of the erstwhile Kingdoms of Kerala.The process is very
complex, manual and time consuming. The yarn or fabric has to be
dipped in medicinal extracts and herbal dyes using pot-boil system
with special gumming process, then dried, mercerized and weaved
stitched or knitted in to different textile materials
Clinical Evaluation
In 2005 a clinical evaluation is conducted at the Government
ayurveda college, Trivandrum under the supervision of the health
department, Kerala on coir and textile materials. The study proved
to be very positive. Again in 2006 a study has been conducted on
textile materials alone and this too found to be positive and the
certifications are due to be released verysoon.

It is observed that on
comparison of the average days taken for the cure of diseases, the
patients admitted in research ward got improvement much earlier than
those admitted in the general ward as shown in the above table and
diagram/graph. To get a satisfactory relief for the patients
underwent the treatment in the research ward it took 25 days but in
the case of the patients in the general ward it was 42 days. This
clearly indicates that the MEEC Technique has got a good positive
effect in augmenting the process of curing diseases. For example,
the different symptoms observed among the skin disease patients,
like swelling, itching, pain, Inflammation, pus formation and
ulceration etc. were considerably started improving after 14th day
in the research ward. However, the patients in the general ward
could get some relief only after 40 days. This shows that as far as
the time span of the cure process is concerned there is a
significant effect on the patients who underwent the treatment in
the research ward.
