Panchakarma Ayurvedic Rejuvenation.
Rejuvenation or Rasayana Chikitsa is the most sought after treatment to attain longevity. Pancha means five and Karma is action. Panchakarma includes (1) Emisis therapy, (2) Purgation therapy (3) Nasal therapy (4) Therapeutic enema with Medicated oil (5) Enema with herbal decoction. Panchakarma is performed in three stages. (1) Purvakarma – Preparatory procedures, (2) Pradhankarma – Main treatment and (3) Paschatkarma – Post treatment care. This revitalizes, increases memory power, provides vigor & vitality makes a person fit both physically and mentally.
PIZHICHIL
This is a relaxing, soothing and rejuvenating treatment with medicated warm oil used in a continuous process for a definite period on the whole body.
ABHAYANGAM ( UZHICHIL)
Medicated Oil is used to massage the body with specific implications to the 107 vital points of the body.
SIRODHARA
Special medicated oil is applied to the head in a regular stream for a specific duration.
SHIROVASTI
This treatment is usually preceded by oblation and sudation.
Treatment for: Treating ailments in the cranial region. A leather sleeve of about six to eight inches in length is placed on the head of the patient and a band (vartti) is tied around the forehead to keep it in place. Kneaded dough is used to line the insides of the sleeve to ensure that the oil does not leak. Oil is then poured into the sleeve and allowed to remain on the head for a while. The duration of the treatment depends upon the severity of the disease.
ELAKIZHI
This is a classical innovative massage with medicated leaves. It can be done on a perfectly healthy person to enhance immunity, vitality and longevity of life.
NJAVARAKIZHI
In this treatment the patients body is made to sweat by fomentation with a bundle of linen filled with a bolus of Njavara rice that has been cooked in a milk and herbal decoction. The fist sized bundle (Kizhi) is dipped every new and then in warm medicates kuzhambu (ointment)
NASYAM
The application of medicated oil or powder through the nostrils is called Nasyam. Here the patient is made to lie down on his back with his head bend slightly back. Warm oil is then dripped into both nostrils which the patient draws in.
VASTI (Therapeutic enema)
The word Vasti means bladder. After preliminary oil and sweat therapies, lukewarm and freshly prepared Vasti liquid is injected into the colon via the rectum. No harm will occur if the liquid remains inside the colon for long. Normally within 45 minutes or one hour the fluid will be discharged which contains toxins along with the faecal matter. Vasti is done in two methods: (i) with herbal oil (ii) with herbal decoction.
