The origin was as a method of fixing an artist’s body when something goes wrong. Marmachikilsa is done where a trained practitioner do the treatment by exciting certain body spots and get the results in a fast manner.

In a theatre-style setting, it can accommodate about 1000 people. Chaliyar Hall

This conference venue is 5,177 sq.ft in area which provide convenient accommodation for about 150 people in theatre-style and about 80 people in a round-table fashion. There is a pre-function area which is exclusive. There is an acoustically sound facility which has 10 feet venue height. It is perfect for smaller conferences. Many doctors opt for this venue for their congregations and corporates prefer this for their training sessions.

The Amphitheatre

This venue can accommodate up to 200 people and is a great setting for hosting any pre-wedding functions like betrothal, informal programs and for small get togethers. Wedding sangeets, parties and performances happen here regularly.

This is a land where history sleeps. Madurai, situated on River Vaigai’s Bank is the yesteryear capital of the great Pandya Kingdom. It is one of the main cities of Tamil Nadu today. There are numerous historical monuments. The Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple is the most famous among them. Another famous monument is the Thirumalai Nayak Palace. Madurai is very closely related to Tamil Language and the third Tamil Sangam.

Srivilliputhur Andal temple

This temple is also called Srivilliputhur Divya Desam as its located in Srivilliputhur which is a town in Virudhunagar in Tamil Nadu. The presiding deity here is Lord Vishnu. This temple is located 80 kms away from Madurai. It is constructed in Dravidian architectural style. The early medieval Tamil Canon of Azhwar saints from 6th-9th centuries AD; Divya Prabandha glorifies the temple. The temple’s tower is 192 feet tall which is Tamil Nadu Government’s official symbol.

Shendurney Wild Life Sanctuary

This wildlife sanctuary is situated in a well-protected area in Western Ghats. Geographically it lies in Kollam District in Kerala under Agasthyamalai Biosphere Reserve. Shendurney Wildlife Sanctuary is one of a kind for its natural ambiance and awesome scenery. There is a beautiful artificial lake about 18.69 sq. km which is surrounded by Thenmala Dam’s Reservoir. The Sanctuary is a treasure trove of exotic plants.

Thangasseri Fort, Lighthouse & Breakwater

The Thangasseri Fort is a beautiful enclave which first belonged to the Portuguese, then the Dutch and later to the British respectively. It consists of the remains of the old Portuguese Fort as well as churches built in 18th Century. This place is five kilometres away from Kollam. The Thangasseri Lighthouse is the other main attraction here. Watching the backwaters from atop will be quite splendid.

Anjengo Fort

This Fort is always remembered in history as the place of first ever trade settlement of the British East India Company in Kerala. According to legend, this site was given to English from the Queen of Attingal for doing trade. The fort was named Anjengo or Anjuthenu from the fact that there were five coconut trees where the Fort stood. The old Fort was attacked for hundreds of years by foreigners.

Padmanabhapuram Palace

This beautiful palace is 64 kms from Thiruvananthapuram and is the seat of the ancient rulers of Travancore. This is a masterpiece of Kerala Architecture and is the largest palace made of wood in the world. The location is at Thuckalay which is enroute to Kanyakumari. It is well-kept with its black granite floor, murals and the wonderful floral carvings.

Sree Padmanabha Swamy Temple

This is located in the heart of Thiruvananthapuram, the capital of Kerala at East Fort. The Temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It is designed combining the Dravidian and Kerala architecture styles. The temple is famous all over the world as the world’s richest one especially with the discovery of all the treasures recently. There are gold and precious stones in the inner chambers of the temple.

Kanyakumari Devi Temple

Kanyakumari, also called Cape Comorin is the southern most tip of India. This temple is dedicated to the virgin goddess Kanyakumari Devi and hence the name. According to old tales, Lord Siva had made a promise to marry the goddess on a particular day but he didn’t keep it. She became angry, upset and she killed all demons. The Devi temple is surrounded by Mahatma Gandhi Mandapam, Vivekananda Rock Memorial and “Thiruvalluvar Statue”.

Tiruchendur Murugan Temple

This is a panchayat town in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. The famous Tiruchendur Murugan Temple dedicated to Lord Muruga is located here. It is near the seashore and is 91 m or 299 ft. long from north to south, 65 m or 213 feet east to west and has a gopuram with seven-tiers which is 42 m or 138 ft tall. The inner sanctum sanctorum lies in a cave. The main deity is Murugan portrayed as a child in granite.

Courtallam Water Falls

This beautiful place is located in the marvellous Western Ghats. It is known as the ‘Spa of South India’. It is situated 160 m or 520 ft. above sea level in the foothills of Western Ghat in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu. There are many ancient temples and tourist spots here. Many seasonal as well as perennial rivers like Thamirabharani, Pachaiyar, Manimuthar and Chittar originate in this beautiful region.

Tenkasi Kasi Viswanathar Temple

This temple is in Tenkasi which lies in Tirunelveli District in Tamil Nadu. The ruling deity is Lord Siva. This temple is believed to be built during 13th century by Pandyan Ruler Parakkirama Pandian. Here, Siva is called Kasi Viswanathar and Parvathi is known as Ulagamman.

Kottukal Cave Temple

This was built between the sixth and eighth centuries and is a current example of rock cut architecture. There are two caves that are unequal facing east with the Ganapathy idol in the middle. The smaller one has a Hanuman Idol and larger one has a massive Nandi (bull of Lord Siva) in it. Lord Siva also is an important deity there in the form of Siva Linga.

Chadayamangalam Jadayupara

The Jadayupara at Chadayamangalam is the biggest bird sculpture in the world. It is so much celebrated and famous because of its link with the Epic Ramayana. The rock here gets its name from the mythical bird Jadayu who according to myth, have collapsed on the rock after trying to fly and save Sita from her kidnapper Ravana. This has become a picnic spot for everyone especially families. It is located on MC Road, 40 km from Trivandrum.

Shengottai Thirumalai Kovil

This is a temple dedicated to Murugan located at Panpoli, Tenkasi in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu. It is 160 kms away from Madurai. The Shengottai Thirumalai Kovil is located atop a small hill surrounded on all sides by Western Ghats near Kerala Border. It is famous for the large number of steps which comes to more than 600.

The Raviz House Boat

Houseboat, locally known as ‘Kettuvallam’ is a nostalgic type of traditional water boat used to transport goods for trade in the past. The modern houseboats are quite posh and exotic. They offer leisure in the lap of luxury and are constructed completely without using any nail. Many natural products like bamboo, jack-wood, areca nut tree’s wood, sticks, coconut tree for beds, furniture, roof etc. The entire body of the boat is tied together using coir and later it is coated with black resin obtained from cashew kernels which are boiled. Sankarankovil Sankaralingaswamy Temple:

The Sankaranayinar Temple is situated in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu and is 56 km afar from the city. The “Adi Thabasu” festival is its main attraction. The temple was built by Ukkira Pandiyan AC 900 and is known as Sankarankovil from yesteryear till now. The deity is called as Sankara Narayanan which is a blend of Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu as the name suggests.

Thenmala Eco Tourism:

This is the first planned Eco-tourism destination in India. Thenmala is popular with its bio-diversity, panoramic view etc. It is sixty kms away from Kollam City. The resources of Thenmala are shared with Shenduruney Wildlife Sanctuary which is at the foothills of Western Ghats. There are many activities for you like Trekking, camping and mountain climbing.

Palaruvi Waterfalls:

Palaruvi means ‘Stream of Milk’ and it falls down from rocks at a height of 300 feet and is 72 km away from Kollam. This is a great picnic spot for all where you get a marvellous view of the surroundings. Hike through the rocky landscape for a while to reach the waterfalls and feel energised with the wonderful view.

Punalur Hanging Bridge:

Punalur is a prominent place located near Kerala-Tamil Nadu Border in Kollam District. It is located on the bank of Kallada River. The Punalur Hanging Bridge or Suspension Bridge is the oldest motorable bridge in Kerala which is built long ago by the Britishers. It is now a big tourist attraction.

Kottarakkara Sree Mahaganapathy Temple :

This is an old temple of worship where Lord Shiva is the ruling deity but over many hundreds of years, sub-deity Lord Ganesha have gained prominence among the devotees. This is a famous temple which is quite secular and permits non-Hindus to pray there. The delicious snack ‘unniyappam’; small, sweet, round and brown cake made of flour and boiled, is their main offering.

Munroe Island:

The peculiar name comes from a British Resident of the former Travancore State, Col. Monroe. This island is 12 kms away from the main town of Kollam. Village Backwater tours are arranged from here which have gained international fame and have come in Lonely Planet, the international magazine.

Cashew Factory

Kollam also known as Quilon, is the largest exporter of Cashew in the world and is the Cashew Capital of the world. There are 600 plus cashew processing units in Kollam as per records of 2011. Every year, almost 8,00,000 tonnes of raw cashew are imported to be processed. Ninety percent of the country’s Cashew kernels which are of export quality are prepared at Kollam.

Vallikavu is famous as it is the residence of the spiritual leader Mata Amritanandamayi. It is also the headquarters of Amrita Group of Institutions. The Ashram is 30 kms away from here and is a pilgrimage centre of international importance which attracts people from far and wide. You get peace of mind as well as inspiration here.

Ochira Temple :

This is situated in Ochira in Karunagappally taluk in Kollam, Kerala. Ochira is a border town located between Kollam and Alappuzha districts. This temple is a pilgrimage centre from ancient times. It is dedicated to Para Brahman, the universal consciousness.

Krishnapuram Palace:

This palace is a beautiful example of Kerala Architecture with the typical narrow corridors, the roofs that have a single slope and the dormer windows. This is 35 km away from Kollam. There is a beautiful mural painting-Gajendra Moksham; which is 49 sq.m which is the largest single band of mural in Kerala. There are many collections here like paintings and antique sculptures made of bronze.

Sasthamcotta Lake Temple

The Shri Dharma Sastha Temple is located in Sasthamkotta Village, Kollam. It is surrounded on three sides by the Sasthamkotta Lake, which is the largest fresh water lake in Kerala. Monkeys are common in the temple compound. They are believed as the divine entourage of the ruling deity. This temple is one among the five old Sastha temples of Kerala namely Achan Koil, Aryan Kavu, Kulathupuzha, Sasthamcotta and the famous Sabarimala. The union of Vaishnava and Saiva beliefs is what the concept of Dharma Sastha is.

Attukal Bhagavathy Temple :

This is one of the most famous temples in Trivandrum and is known as ‘Ladies’ Sabarimala’. Goddess Bhadrakali (Kannaki) is the presiding deity here. She is the Goddess of prosperity as well as Salvation. The famous Attukal Pongala festival happens here annually in which over thirty lakh women participate. It has entered the Guinness Book of World Records for being the largest gathering of ladies for religious purpose. It draws large crowds of women every year.

Pazhavangadi Ganapathy Temple

This is another important temple located in the heart of Thiruvananthapuram at East Fort. As the name of the temple suggests, the main deity is Sri Mahaganapathy or Lord Ganesha. The idol is installed in a sitting posture with right leg folded. Another prominent temple, Sri Padmanabhaswamy temple, is located close by.

Thiruvallam Sree Parasurama Swami Temple:

This is one of the oldest temples in South India located on the banks of Karamana River near to Thiruvallam in Thiruvananthapuram. This temple has the uniqueness of being the only temple in Kerala dedicated to Lord Parasurama, an avatar of Lord Vishnu. The tribute for ancestors-Balitharpanam-is the famous offering here. This is a very holy place for devotees of Lord Parasurama. The legend says he is the creator of Kerala State.

Kappil Beach:

This beautiful Beach and the backwaters is located 7 kms away from Varkala. As it is the perfect mix of Backwaters and the sea, it offers the perfect getaway. This is located very close to Thiruvananthapuram. The Backwaters are a sight to behold. There are many options for water sports here. You can relax and take a boat ride to enjoy yourself. Driving along the coastal side is also a great way for experiencing the view.

Varkala Beach:

This beach is also known as ‘Papanasam Beach’ and is ten kilometres away from Varkala town. There is a natural spring here which is believed to have medicinal properties. Dipping in the holy waters here is believed to relieve your body of all sins and that explains the name ‘Papanasam’ Beach. Apart from the Beach, the mineral water springs, the 2000-year-old Temple dedicated to Janardanaswamy and the Sivagiri Ashram-the resting place of Sree Narayana Guru who was a social reformer are the main attractions.

VSSC Space Museum :

This is situated near Thumba Equatorial Rocket Launching Station’s (TERLS) northern boundary near the coastline and St. Mary Magdalene Church. It is lined with high-tech artefacts as well as visuals that speak about the birth of Indian Space Programme.

Thriparappu Temple and water falls:

Thirparappu (Thriparappu) is a place in Kanyakumari District in Tamil Nadu which is famous for its waterfalls. The Thirparappu Falls are located 42 kms away from Nagarcoil, 55 km away from Trivandrum and 5 km from Kulasekharam. The Falls is at Kodayar and it is almost 13 km away from Pechiparai dam.

Adhikesava Perumal Temple, Thiruvattar:

This temple, also in Kanyakumari District, is surrounded on all the three sides by the rivers Thamirabarani, Pahrali and Kothai. The River Pahrali takes a turn here and diverge to form an island called ‘Vattaru’ and when the temple was created it came to be known as Thiruvattaru.

Vellimalai Kumaraswamy Temple, Kumarakoil:

This is another temple in Kanyakumari dedicated to Lord Murugan in Kumarakoil village. It is about 200 feet high on a rocky landscape. The whole place is richly filled with paddy fields which are lush green, natural beauty of coconut trees with mountain in background, banana gardens etc.

Madavoor Rock Temple and Park:

Madavoorpara Rock Cut Shiva Temple and Park is situated outside Trivandrum city. It is a very old temple dating to as old as 850 AD. This temple as well as surrounding area are under the protection of State’s Archaeological Department. There is a carved idol of Lord Shiva as well as a carving of Ganapathi in the temple on the right side wall. On the left side, there is a carving of the local chieftain.

Vivekananda Rock Memorial, Kanyakumari :

The Vivekananda Rock Memorial is an impressive structure located offshore, 500 m east from Vavathurai mainland in Kanyakumari. The structure stands on one of the two rocks that are nearby in the Lakshadweep Sea. The ‘Vivekananda Mandapam’ and ‘Shripada Mandapam’ are the two important structures here. This awesome memorial is created to honour the great Hindu monk and spiritual leader, Swami Vivekananda. He has attained enlightenment when he was meditating here for two days just before going to Chicago, USA.

Vaishnava Nambi and Thirukurungudivalli Nachiar Temple

This temple is located in Thirukkurungudi Village in Tirunelveli in the state of Tamil Nadu. It is dedicated to God Vishnu and his consort Goddess Lakshmi. It is located 45 km away from Tirunelveli. This temple is created in Dravidian architecture style. It has found a prominent place in Divya Prabandha which is the early medieval Tamil Canon of Azhwar saints from 6th-9th centuries AD. This is one among the 108 Divyadesam dedicated to Lord Vishnu. He is worshipped here in the name of Vaishnava Nambi and Goddess Lakshmi is known as Thirukurungudivalli. This temple is also known as Dakshina Vaikuntam; Vaikuntam being the holy abode of Lord Vishnu.

Sreevaikuntam :

This is a small town in Thoothukudi in the state of Tamil Nadu, located beside Thamirabarani river. The temple here dedicated to Lord Vishnu is known as Srivaikuntanathan Perumal temple. There is a mandapam filled with sculptures of Elephant, warriors and yallis known as Thiruvengada Mudaiyar Mandapam. There is another mandapam which is opened on Vaikunta Ekadasi days known as the Ekadasi Mandapam.

Papanasanathar Temple :

This temple is located in Papanasam, a small village 60 km away from Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu. The presiding deity is Lord Shiva. There are three precincts in the temple created in Dravidian style. All shrines are enclosed by the granite wall surrounding the temple. There is a gateway tower with seven-tiers. There are many artistic sculptures representing Nayak Art.

Brahmadesam Kailaasanathar:

This beautiful temple is 4.2 kms away from Ambasamudram and 43 kms away from Tirunelveli. There are big towering wooden doors beautifully carved with figures of Gods into the 80 to 100 panels on the door.

Rajagopala Swamy Temple, Mannarkoil :

The Rajagopalaswamy Kulasekara Perumal Temple is located at Mannarkoil near to Ambasamudram in Tirunelveli District in Tamil Nadu State. It has Lord Vishnu as the ruling deity. The temple is a kilometre to the west from Brahmadesam Kailasanathar Temple and is seven kms away from Ambasamudram off Tenkasi-Kuttralam Highway. Mannarkoil is actually an island with rivers on both north and south side. Thamirabarani flows on the southern side while Ghatana flows on the opposite side.

Uvari Beach :

Uvari is a fishing village located beside Bay of Bengal in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu. It is 70 kms south of Tirunelveli , 50 kms east of Nagercoil and 100 kms to the west of Thoothukudi.

Thoothukudi :

Thoothukudi or Tuticorin is a port city, industrial place and a municipal corporation in Tamil Nadu. It lies in Coromandel Coast of the Bay of Bengal. Thoothukudi is also known as “Pearl City” because of the pearl fishing there. Tuticorin is a busy commercial seaport serving inland cities of South India. It is also one of the sea gateways in Tamil Nadu.

Ramanathaswamy Temple, Rameswaram:

Rameswaram is a small town located on Pamban Island in Tamil Nadu. The place is famous for the Ramanathaswamy Temple which is a famous Hindu pilgrimage site with big sculpted pillars, or decorated corridors and water tanks that are sacred. Agnitheertham, is to the east, where devotees bathe in the waters. There is a hill called Gandamadana Parvatham with great island views. There is a wheel here said to be bearing an imprint of Lord Sriram’s feet.


Ponmudi is a Hill Station which is connected to Thiruvananthapuram via a two lane highway (SH 2 and SH 45). The final 18 km beginning from Anappara has beautiful views, winding through mountains, tea gardens etc. There are 22 hairpin turns in this route. It is a great spot for those who love travel especially trekking. The biggest plus point is the year-long pleasant climate.


This is a very tall peak about 1,868 m (6,129 ft.) situated within Neyyar Wildlife Sanctuary in Western Ghats. This is actually in the border between Kerala ( Pathanamthitta, Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram districts ) and Tamil Nadu (Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli districts). It is part of Agasthyamala Biosphere Reserve. Thamirabarani river which is perennial, originates from the eastern range and it flows to Tirunelveli district in Tamil Nadu.

Kunnampara Temple Location :-

This beautiful temple is at Vazhamuttam which is a quiet village located in between Arabian Sea and Vellayani Lake, 8 kms to south of Thiruvananthapuram city on Kovalam Route. The temple property comes to about 21 acres and 21 cents donated in M.E. 1071 by Kochukutty Vaidyar of Chettiyar Thoppil in Pachalloor who was a devotee of Sree Narayana Guru. There was a rest house and temple for Sree Narayana Guru.

Kottarakkara Thampuran Memorial Museum of Classical Arts

This is dedicated to Kathakali’s creator namely Kottarakkara Thampuran. Kathakali is the traditional dance drama of Kerala. This museum is created to promote classical arts. It exhibits life size Kathakali as well as Mohiniyattam characters as they appear on stage in the traditional costumes with the hastha mudras i.e. hand gestures which are used in the art forms with the ornaments as well.

Police Museum

The Police Museum is also known as Sardar Vallabhai Patel Police Museum. This museum at Kollam is a really interesting one which traces the whole history as well as development of the police force. There are police arms of 18th and 19th centuries. There are various other exhibits too. The Martyr’s Gallery is the prime attraction here.

Achankovil Temple

This is one among the Pancha Sastha Temples of Kerala. Lord Ayyappa is the presiding deity who rules there in the form of grihastha (householder). He faces east. This idol is believed to be installed by Lord Parasurama. Lord Ayyappa’s Pratishta is quite different from other Sastha Temples. The idol is called Rudraksha Sila. He is portrayed as a Grihasthashrami (one who is married ) along with two consorts Poorna and Pushkala. Ayyappa is portrayed as a Mahavaidya (a great physician) who cures from poisonous snakebites.

Kulathoor Phanamugham Devi Temple

This is an ancient temple located in Kulathoor Village, Neyyattinkara Taluk in Trivandrum, Kerala. Thookkam is important part of the festival here. It is conducted during the month of Kumbha (February-March). Devotees from all over Kerala take part in the festival. The Devi of the temple is believed to be very powerful.

Aryankavu Sastha Temple

This is one among the 108 Sastha shrines in Kerala. The idol is believed to be blessed by Lord Parasurama. This is one of the Pancha Sastha temples in Kerala. It is located in eastern forest ranges in Pathanapuram in Kollam.

This is a modern shopping mall in Kollam city, Kerala. It belongs to the business tycoon, Dr. B. Ravi Pillai’s RP Group. This mall was formerly known as K-Mall or Kollam Mall and belonged to Malabar Developers. Kollam was the third city after Cochin and Calicut to have its own shopping mall. The mall is 2,10,000 sq.ft. in size and is located on high street in Kollam. There is 1,00,000 sq. ft. retail space that is spread across seven floors.

Malamel Temple:

There is a giant rock in Malamel on which a famous Siva Temple is located. The Malamel Temple has five doors in total. It is believed to be very divine as well as historical as its very near the famous Jadayupara in Chadayamangalam. This rock is believed to be the one carried by the mystical bird Jadayu in Ramayana when Sita was kidnapped by Ravana.

Ashtamudi Backwater Boat Cruise

The name ‘Ashtamudi’ get its name from ‘Ashta’ meaning eight and ‘mudi’ meaning ‘braids’ as it has eight branches or channels of water. It is also a gateway to the bewitching backwaters of Kerala in the southern side. It is second to Vembanad with respect to size as well as beauty. One of the best backwater cruises in the Kerala Waterways is from Kollam to Alappuzha along this 61 km lake.

Nagaraja Temple, Nagercoil, Kanyakumari:

This is a temple worshipping the Nagaraja or the King of Serpents also known as Vasuki, located in the heart of Nagercoil in Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu. The name ‘Nagercoil’ came from the name of the Temple. There are uncountable number of statues of the serpents here. Snakes are very important in Hinduism. It is an ornament for Lord Siva and is the bed for Lord Mahavishnu. Snakes are worshipped all over India. This temple acts as a symbol for all four religions-Saivism, Vaishnavism, Jainism as well as Buddhism.

Thanumalayan Temple, Suchindram, Kanyakumari:

This temple is also known as ‘Sthanumalayan’ Temple is a temple dedicated to the Hindu Trinity-Brahma, Vishnu and Siva. This is located in Suchindram in Kanyakumari District, Tamil Nadu. This temple is important to both Vaishnavites and Shaivites. The name ‘Sthanumalayan’ means the Trimurtis: ‘Sthanu’ means ‘Siva’, ‘Mal’ means ‘Vishnu’ and ‘Ayan’ means ‘Brahma’.
