ACTIVITIES:

Hiking, cycling, visits to the local markets are all some of the popular pastimes here. The 800-year-old Janardana Swamy Temple and the Nature Cure Centre are two major attractions here. The arattu festival at this temple is celebrated every year in Meenam (March-April) commencing with Kodiyettu (Flag hoisting) of Karthika day ending with Arattu on uthram day. The festival lasts for 10 days. A colorful procession led by caparisoned elephants in which ornamental silk umbrellas, peacock fans etcetera are carried is one of the prominent features of the festival.

Sivagiri Mutt the final resting place of the renowned social reformer Sree Narayana Guru is yet another pilgrim centre. According to ancient Hindu beliefs bathing in the sea off the coast of Varkala cleanses you of your sins and hence it is often referred to as the "papanasini," or sin-reliever in local parlance.

AYURVEDA & HOLISTICS

Ayurveda is an age old wisdom part of India's great heritage. The people behind it were ancient saints or rishis, who researched on various permutation and combinations of medicinal plants to achieve the desired result. It is said that Ayurveda had the power to give life to an almost dead person, while the word Ayurveda itself means "knowledge of Life".

More than 5000 years old, this unique branch of medicine has a curative & restorative power. Ayurveda is a natural healing system and is based on a holistic approach. Kerala's moist deciduous forest rich in medicinal plants and herbs has made this state the real home of Ayurveda.

Ayurveda maintains that human body is composed of the same elements as in nature - that is, fire, earth, air, water & ether. Tridosha comprises of vata (air), pitta (fire), kapha (water).

According to the three element (Tridosha) theory, any imbalance in Tridosha can result in health deterioration. Ayurveda is there to rectify the imbalances. So Ayurvedic medicine has two main objectives: 1. to help in maintaining good health; 2. to care for the ill and restore their health. Ayurveda; does not merely treat the affected part but strike at the root cause of a particular disease. Ayurveda aims at eliminating toxic imbalances from the body and to regain body resistance and good health.

Accommodation

Guests at our resort will experience diverse lighting, as well as rustic colour accents giving the rooms a fresh and tasteful new look. Each one of the contemporary 18 rooms provides an array of amenities that combines the needs of the weary tourist with all the comforts expected in a resort.
